Swiss quality: sustainable and durable measuring tools.

In this article, we would like to focus on Swiss quality and present 5 relevant aspects that characterise our products.

Craftsmanship rethought

Our plastic measuring tools are the result of a long tradition of Swiss craftsmanship. Innovation and courage have helped LongLife® to create the impressive products you see today. The high-quality plastic measuring tools have been produced to the highest quality standards since 1970. We are constantly optimising our processes.

Precision is our top priority, because we know that accurate measurements are essential in many areas.

Quality control and certification

To ensure the highest quality standards, our measuring tools undergo strict quality controls. The measuring tools are thoroughly tested on a regular basis to ensure that they meet the requirements of our customers.

This enables us to underpin our commitment to quality and strengthen confidence in our products. Our metre rules are CE-approved and therefore comply with the EU standard and fall into accuracy class III. The LongLife® Plus Composite with glass fibre tape reinforcement is even in accuracy class II.

Our metre rules are manufactured according to strict quality standards and regularly tested. We only use high-quality materials that guarantee a long service life. When you choose LongLife® folding rulers, you are investing in a quality product that you will enjoy for a long time.

Longevity & durability

We know that a tool is only valuable if it works reliably over a long period of time. That’s why we attach great importance to the durability and resistance of our plastic measuring tools.

Our measuring tools are unbreakable, weatherproof and precise. They have been specially developed for professional use and fulfil the highest demands. Whether in construction, architecture or trade – our rulers offer you the accuracy you need. The LongLife® folding rules withstand even the most demanding working conditions and enable long-term use.

Innovative spirit

As a company, we are always endeavouring to further develop and improve our products. New functions, innovative materials and functional design are just a few examples of how we fulfil the needs of our customers and express our innovative spirit.

We demonstrate innovation, for example, with special measurment tools such as the LongLife® Elektric for electricians or the LongLife® All-in-One for angle and depth measurements.

Sustainability

Sustainability is an important aspect for us. We attach great importance to short supply chains and regional suppliers. This enables us to ensure that our materials are produced in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. We support local companies and reduce the CO2 footprint of our products. The recycling process is being expanded and we are constantly working to optimise our processes.

In addition, recyclability is also an important aspect of our products. It is important to us that our measuring tools can be recycled at the end of their service life. By using recyclable materials and environmentally friendly production, we help to conserve resources and protect the environment.

Customer service and support

Our commitment to customer satisfaction does not end with the delivery of our products. We prioritise first-class customer service and support. Our team is on hand to answer your questions and help you with any problems you may have. Your success and satisfaction are our top priorities.

Swiss quality stands for precision, durability, innovation, sustainability and outstanding customer service. Our plastic measuring tools from Schweizermeter® epitomise these values and offer you reliable tools. If you are looking for high-quality measuring tools that offer you accuracy, reliability and durability, then you have come to the right place. Put your trust in Swiss quality and experience the difference our products can make in your everyday work.

Indispensable promotional gift: the printed folding rule as an eye-catcher

If you decide on the foldng ruler as a promotional gift, you should think about how you want to have it printed.

Here are some tips for a perfect result

1. choose a high-quality printing method:

To ensure that your logo or advertising message stands out well on the measureing tool and does not peel off quickly, you should choose a high-quality printing method. We work in-house using the pad printing process. This ensures that the colour on the metre rule lasts a long time.

2. choose an eye-catching colour:

To ensure that your LongLife® folding ruler serves as an eye-catcher, you should choose an eye-catching colour for the print. Red, blue or green are good options that appeal to the eye. Use your company colours. But a black logo can also look classy.

3. place the logo or advertising message strategically:

Think about where the logo or advertising message should best be placed on the folding ruler. With a 2M double metre, a maximum print area of 160 x 25 mm can be printed using pad printing. The logo is usually printed in the centre. Please take a look at our print data sheet.

The printed folding ruler is an indispensable promotional gift for craftsmen and DIY enthusiasts. It is not only practical, but also an eye-catcher. By printing your company logo or an advertising message on it, it becomes an individual and personalised gift that will always remind your customers of your company.

The double metre is a tool that every craftsman and DIY enthusiast needs. With its durability and practicality, it is sure to find a place of honour in every toolbox. As a Swiss product, the LongLife® metre rule is an ideal gift for your customers, as it stands for quality and precision.

All in all, the printed double metre is a useful and original gift that will delight your customers and create a long-lasting memory of your company.

How do you recognise an accurate quality folding ruler?

How accurate a folding rule is is determined by its accuracy class.

If the folding rule has been tested in accordance with EC Directive 2004/22/EC (since 2016 2014/32/EU), this can be recognised by the accuracy class at the beginning of the metre scale.

A Roman numeral is often stamped on the first link of the metre rule. This is the EC accuracy class.

What is the accuracy class and how is it calculated?

There are three EC accuracy classes. They determine how accurately the folding rule must measure to a certain length and to what extent a deviation in the measurement is permitted.

The formula for the error limit is made up as follows:

a + b*L

L refers to the length to be measured rounded up to the nearest full metre.

a and b are taken from the table:

Table: Determine the error limits

Accuray Class a (mm) b (mm/m) c (mm)- Area
III 0.6 0.4 0.3
II 0.3 0.2 0.2
I 0.1 0.1 0.1

If, for example, 1.80m is to be measured, the formula for class III is as follows:

0.6+0.4*2 = 1.4 mm

The metre rule may therefore deviate by up to 1.4 mm over this length in order to be classified in Class III. If it is more, this class does not apply as the folding rule becomes too inaccurate; if it is less, the metre rule may move up in the accuracy class.

III is the usual standard for folding rules made of wood or of plastic. Our LongLife® metre rules are marked and tested with the EC accuracy class.

Let us now take the example and calculate the error limit for class II:

0.3+0.2*2 = 0.7mm

The maximum deviation is 0.7 mm. This class is usually assigned to metre rods made of metal.

However, our LongLife® Plus Composite can also boast EC accuracy class II – the only plastic metre rule in this class.

How is the class tested?

With measuring instruments, we check the accuracy of our LongLife® folding rules internally. Of course, these instruments also tested externally in accordance with the Measuring Instruments Directive. So they are also CE-tested and calibrated and you can be sure that our LongLife® folding rules measure accurately.

To summarise: Our LongLife® metre rules are CE-approved and are in accuracy class III, which means that our folding rules deviate by a maximum of 1.4mm. Our LongLife® Plus Composite metre rule is even more accurate. With an error tolerance of just 0.7 mm, the LongLife® Plus Composite is characterised by accuracy class II.

Error tolerance of the accuracy classes at 2m:

I: +/-0.3 mm

II: +/- 0.7 mm

III: +/- 1.4 mm
